No-Bake Cake Pops Recipe for Kids

The Glitter Girls agree that there’s something so special about cake pops! They’re so cute and bite-sized, perfect for sharing with friends at birthday parties. Put them out on display, hand them out as desserts, or sneak them into goodie bags – you’re sure to bring big smiles with these homemade treats!

Our cake pop recipe is super-duper easy, with no baking required. Kids can get involved in almost every step of the process: counting ingredients, shaping the dough, coating the balls in chocolate, and choosing the sprinkles, of course! Customize these cake balls to your family’s liking and get ready to celebrate!

No-Bake Chocolate Cake Pops

Yield: 16 cake pops

Prep Time: 30 minutes

Total Time: 1 hour, 30 minutes

Ingredients

24 Chocolate sandwich cookies, such as Oreos
4 oz Cream cheese, softened to room temperature
5 oz White chocolate, melted
Sprinkles or cookie crumbs (optional)

Equipment

16 lollipop sticks
Parchment paper
A lollipop stand, Styrofoam block, or bowl of rice

Directions

Crush the cookies in a food processor, pulsing until finely crumbed.
Add the cream cheese and continue to pulse until the mixture is smooth.
Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper. Use your hands to shape the cookie dough into 16 balls, 1 inch wide. Place the balls on the cookie sheet, about 1 inch apart.
Put the cake balls in the fridge for 10 to 15 minutes so they can harden. In the meantime, melt the white chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 30-second increments, stirring every time, until the chocolate is smooth.
Take the cake balls out of the fridge. Pierce each ball with a lollipop stick, then the balls, one by one, into the melted chocolate. Submerge the cake pops completely and remove carefully. Give them a gentle shake, cake side down, to let any excess chocolate drip back into the bowl.
Top each cake pop with sprinkles. Place them, cake side up, into the lollipop stand, and set for about an hour before serving. Enjoy!

Tips & Tricks for Homemade Cake Pops

Be careful when shaping the dough into balls. If they’re too big, they’ll be too heavy and they’ll fall off their sticks! Use a tablespoon to measure out the dough evenly for each ball and aim for 1 inch in width.
Want to switch the flavors? Follow this same recipe, using vanilla cookies and semi-sweet chocolate, instead!
Help the lollipop sticks stay in place by dipping them in melted chocolate, first. Dip them, then stick them into the bottoms of your cake pops, about 1/3 of an inch deep. Then, set them aside for a minute or two to harden before you coat the balls in chocolate.
If you see a bubble form in your chocolate coating, don’t worry. This can be fixed! Simply poke any bubbles you find with a toothpick, then give the cake pop a swirl so that the chocolate spreads out nice and even.
Use melted chocolate to fix any cracks you find in your balls of dough before coating them in chocolate. Give the chocolate a minute to cool, then dip!
Let kids get even more involved by skipping the food processor in step 2. Together, use your hands to mix the cream cheese into the cookie crumbs. This mini sensory activity might also result in a smoother texture. Is it messy? It might be. But is it fun? You bet!
