Famileez of the Month: The McBristly Porcupines

Li’l Woodzeez is celebrating its 15th anniversary! Each month of this year, we’ll be taking a closer look at one chosen family and recognizing all the things that make it special. We want to give a big round of applause to all the wonderful Famileez that make up our beloved town of Honeysuckle Hollow!

This June, we’re putting a spotlight on the McBristly Porcupines. Say hello!

There are four bristly porcupines in this family of four: Mom Peggy, Dad Porter, little girl Quinn, and baby boy Quill. Together, they run the Pins & Needles Tailor Shop in Honeysuckle Hollow! They can make any custom outfit and fix any fashion problem their Li’l Woodzeez friends might have. As lovers of fashion and fun, the McBristlys are creative, compassionate, quick-thinking porcupines everyone can count on.

Fun Facts About the McBristly Porcupines

  • Honeysuckle Trendsetter: Mom Peggy is a master tailor, always creating the next best look all the Li’l Woodzeez want to wear.
  • Fix-it Stitches: Dad Porter is sharp as a tack! He loves to solve problems with people’s clothes. Got a tear in your sock? He’ll fix it in a jiffy. Lost a button? Pick a color and he’ll stitch a new one in!
  • Future Runway Model: Quinn loves to showcase the outfits her mother tailors. She practices her signature walk up and down the hallway of the Pins & Needles Tailor Shop while her family cheers her on!
  • Visual Artist: Baby Quill is too young to work with needles, but he’s got a knack for colors. He likes to put fabric samples together into makeshift quilts, and even helps his mom choose color combinations for her clothing patterns.
  • Powerful Porcupines: While the McBristlys are artists at heart, they love a good hike! On sunny weekend afternoons, you can find them walking the town’s trails and even climbing routes together so they get the best views.

Did you know?

Quills are hollow, feather-like hairs that stick up vertically when porcupines feel threatened. There are over 60 different kinds of porcupines in the world, each with quills of different sizes. Some are as thick as pencils and straws!

Those spiky quills on the back of a porcupine are what inspired the McBristlys’ careers as tailors. They use needles and thread!

BONUS fun fact: baby porcupines are called porcupettes.
