Easy Chocolate Fudge Recipe for Kids

Ahh… chocolate fudge! What an incredible treat. It’s so rich and creamy, with deep flavors that keep you wanting more. The only catch is that fudge can be a li’l tricky to make. Traditional recipes require exact temperatures and cooking times, leaving you with less-than-perfect fudge. And who wants that?

Lucky for you, the Toddlewaddle Penguins are experts at making fudge and, this holiday season, they want to share their recipe with you! Made with simple ingredients, this easy fudge recipe is great for beginners and all lovers of chocolate. Kids are welcome to help along the way; there’s no baking or stovetop required! Just measure things out, zap it all in the microwave, pour into a mold, and enjoy. Oh, and be warned – this fudge disappears quickly!

Ingredients

4 cups powdered sugar

1/2 cup cocoa powder

1/2 cup unsalted butter, cut into cubes

1/4 cup chocolate milk or regular milk

1 tablespoon vanilla extract

1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)

8×6 baking pan or similar

Microwave-safe bowl

Parchment paper

A sifter

Directions

  1. Line a baking pan with parchment paper, or grease it with cooking spray. Set aside.
  2. Sift the powdered sugar and cocoa powder into a large, microwave-safe bowl. Then, add the cubed butter and the milk. Do not mix.
  3. Microwave the mixture for a minute and a half, then whisk until smooth. Add the vanilla extract and nuts, if you are using them, and whisk again.
  4. Use a rubber spatula to pour the fudge into the prepared pan and refrigerate for 3 hours or until set.
  5. Slice, share, and enjoy! Store the fudge in the refrigerator between servings.
